				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Institute of Air Transport provides Basic Training Course or Basic Examinations for acquiring </strong>Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) <strong>for</strong> <strong>Category B2. </strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Privileges of Category B</strong><strong>2</strong><strong> Licensed Personnel </strong></p>
<p>A Category B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) shall permit the holder to issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) and to act as B2 Support Staff following:</p>
<p>— maintenance performed on Avionic and Electrical Systems,</p>
<p>— Electrical and Avionics tasks within Powerplant and Mechanical Systems, requiring only simple tests to prove their serviceability; and</p>
<p>—to issue CRS following minor scheduled line maintenance and simple defect rectification within the limits of tasks specifically endorsed on the Certification Authorisation referred to in point 145.A.35 of Annex II (Part-145). This certification privilege shall be restricted to work that the licence holder has personally performed in the maintenance organisation which issued the Certification Authorisation and limited to the ratings already endorsed in the B2 licence.</p>
<p>The Category B2 Licence <strong>does not</strong> include any A Sub-Category</p>
<p><strong>Basic Knowledge requirements</strong></p>
<p>The knowledge training element is covering the subject matter for a Category B2 AML as specified in Commission Regulation (EC) 1321/2014,</p>
<p>Annex III (Part-66), Appendix I.</p>
<p>The AML Category B2 Basic Training is subdivided into the following Modules of knowledge:</p>
<p>Module 1. Mathematics</p>
<p>Module 2. Physics</p>
<p>Module 3. Electrical fundamentals</p>
<p>Module 4. Electronic fundamentals</p>
<p>Module 5. Digital Techniques Electronic Instrument Systems</p>
<p>Module 6. Materials and Hardware</p>
<p>Module 7. Maintenance Practices</p>
<p>Module 8. Basic Aerodynamics</p>
<p>Module 9. Human Factors</p>
<p>Module 10. Aviation Legislation</p>
<p>Module 13 Aircraft Aerodynamics, Structures and Systems</p>
<p>Module 14. Propulsion</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Basic </strong><strong>Examination </strong><strong>requirements</strong></p>
<p>The Basic Examinations are in accordance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EC) 1321/2014, Annex III (Part-66), Appendix II.</p>
<p>Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Essay Questions are used to evaluate the students&#8217; knowledge for the applicable Modules.</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Basic Experience requirements</strong></p>
<p>There are two options to obtain a Category B2AML:</p>
<p>Option 1 &#8211; To complete a full Basic Training Course approved in accordance with Annex IV (Part-147).</p>
<p>If this option is used, the required practical maintenance experience on operating aircraft is <strong>2 years</strong>.</p>
<p>Option 2 &#8211; To pass successfully Basic Examinations on the applicable Modules only.</p>
<p>If this option is used, the required practical maintenance experience on operating aircraft is:</p>
<p>&#8211; <strong>3 years</strong> if the applicant has a previous training considered relevant by the competent authority as a Skilled Worker</p>
<p>&#8211; <strong>5 years</strong> if the applicant has no previous relevant technical training</p>

Additional experience of civil aircraft maintenance shall, however, be required to ensure adequate understanding of the civil aircraft maintenance environment.<br />
